Vegans Are Us: Restaurant Review by Melody Russell

Vegans Are Us: Restaurant Review by Melody Russell

To say that Vegans Are Us is simply a vegan soul food restaurant is blasphemous. Making such a statement would ignore the totality of their message. Altogether disregarding their call to action and dedication toward the health of the public people. The restaurant is not only a bustling eatery to dine on mouth-watering food, but also the epicenter of progressive change in the fast food industry.

  • Vegans Are Us’s very existence acts in protest to every standing McDonalds or Wendys. The quality and consistency of their vegan food is unwavering. Their plates and platters will leave you feeling satisfied yet never stuffed or bloated, something your typical fast food spot or even restaurant can not attest to. The mere fact that non-vegans venture to the restaurant to sample its delicacies is a testament to its culinary accomplishments.

  • They have climbed the mountain of success, leaving unhealthy fast-food restaurants behind on a dusty and retired trail. The radical establishment is climbing the social ladder and refusing to look back. What they are doing for the restaurant industry is fresh and novel ( similar to their meals). The execution of Vegans Are Us’s tasteful soul food is so phenomenal, that they make you question why you ever indulged in meat.

Below is a full review and account of my time at Vegans Are Us in Vineland New Jersey.

Review

Stepping foot into the restaurant instantly cast me into familiar nostalgia. Immediately I found myself recalling my grandmother’s kitchen, reminiscing on the scent of soul food and the taste of joyous laughter. Walking into the restaurant is similar to taking strides into the annual family reunion. Instead this time you're surrounded by your chosen family. This family consists of like-minded individuals who share your passion for healthy living and eating.

Merely looking around the restaurant forces the corners of your mouth to uplift.
Vegans Are Us is rich in smiles, with laughter as its only form of currency. I seemingly spent all of it, holding my stomach and chuckling the minute I walked through the entryway.

The colors that coat the walls invite you to stay, reminding you that you're home. The hues of warm and friendly nature exist as a reflection of fall's embrace and comfort. This sentiment is sprinkled across the establishment.

Dashes of complex and beautiful abstract art adorn the walls. Decorative Rose quartz sits delicately on top of wooden tables. Each artistic detail signifies the effort and energy owner Sharonda Harris-Bunton has poured into her masterpiece of an eatery.

Her commitment to craft does not stop there. The cuisine itself is an extension of her artistry. Served to you on a shining platter as the physical manifestation of her passion. The artwork decorating the walls is not nearly as jaw-dropping as the art that graces your very plate.

My meal- The Spicy Chicken Double Stack- came in less than twenty minutes. I was notified of its presence by the sound of the waiter allowing the plate to meet the table. The sound was similar to that of a wedding toast, a symbolic clink setting the tone for good health and fortune.

The toast-like clink flawlessly foreshadowed the perfection of my sandwich. Crispy golden brown plant-based meat drew me in. It pulled me closer, sharing its spotlight with glistening richly green lettuce. The dynamic duo was comforted by the caress of buttered fluffy buns. Each bun clung to a surprising treat, two pieces of vegan bacon and gooey dairy-free cheese. In between the strings of the melting cheese revealed fresh peppers waiting to be devoured. I listened to the sandwich’s desires and ate her accordingly!

Biting into the sandwich was like listening to a symphony. The lettuce crunched between my teeth harmonizing with the crisp pop of chewed peppers. The flavorful and toasted bun silenced the conversation I was previously having, forcing me to listen to its melody instead. The bun hummed a mouth-watering tune, and the vegan meat sang me a seasoned lullaby.

My meal came with fresh fries that wore spices like armor. However, their tasty protection was no match for my insatiable hunger. The armored spice laid across my fingers and was happily licked off. While the army of seasoned potatoes descended into my expecting stomach. The sandwich made my entire body rejoice. It made my mind calm and slayed the nagging bite of hunger. It served its purpose to fulfill my appetite and did so stunningly well.

After my dinner, I lingered in the establishment, listening to Vegans Are Us’s live singer and entertainment. After being blown away by the meal service and captivating vocals, I gathered my belongings and left. While driving home I noticed that I was still spending their special currency. Even miles away, I caught myself smiling, simply at the thought of walking back through those enchanting doors. Willing to exchange my money for joy and laughter time after time again. For as long as I live, Vegans Are Us has gained a loyal customer.
